Email newsletter marketing
Rutgers University Career Services transitioned to a new email scheduling platform. In my role on the marketing team, I was responsible for transitioning the department’s existing weekly email newsletter, The Career Pulse, to the new platform. While I knew this was a big challenge, I was also excited at the opportunity to reimagine and improve the newsletter from the ground up.
I started by learning the ins-and-outs of the new email scheduling platform, Handshake (Handshake is a well-respected career services student management tool). I then redesigned Handshake's standard template, incorporating as many photo, video, and graphic elements as I could—all while staying true to the department's visual brand. I also developed a semesterly content calendar in coordination with the department's promotional calendar, which improved overall organization and workflow.
In addition, I wrote the copy, designed the graphic content, and managed the production of the videos featured in the newsletter both before and after the transition. I conducted A-B testing and used tracking links to better assess user behavior as well.
